Course Description: Archaeological perspectives on Caribbean prehistory and history; biogeography and island interactions; social complexity and inter-island mobility; comparative analysis of the cultural development of the Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles; influence of South America on Caribbean prehistory; the relationship between historically documented populations of Tainos, Caribs, and Arawaks and prehistoric and ethnohistoric populations; impacts of Columbus, colonization, and slavery. Pre-requisite: 070:105 Introduction to Archaeology
