WELCOME
Note from the Chair This is an exciting time to be a student at Rutgers University. The transformation of the undergraduate program provides students with a first-rate educational experience which prepares them to be active and engaged citizens in an increasingly global world, while opportunities for graduate study continue to grow. The Department of Anthropology has also witnessed some changes in the last few years that have made it stronger than ever. Now, in addition to the BS in Evolutionary Anthropology and the BA in Anthropology, students can opt for a BA in Cultural Anthropology. New minors in Anthropology and Cultural Anthropology are available as well. Graduate students receive state-of-the-art training in theory and research, working with leading scholars in evolutionary and cultural anthropology, who carry out field research in such areas as Latin America, Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, North America, and China. I hope you enjoy finding out more about the Department as you navigate our new website. Fran Mascia-Lees, Chair
